2019: I Got The Highs

Grandson, Rachel Hacken, Rian, Me, Josh Katz

2019 had its fair share of hardships. I let go of far fetched dreams but came up with new ones. I gained knowledge instead of bitterness when people took advantage of my kindness. I learned how to walk away from the things that were no longer good for me despite how hard I wanted them to fit.

I found unexpected passions and flexed on some new skills. I met a handful of incredible souls but lost my number one to the afterlife; I love you Gran. I created things that I loved and I created things that I hated but in the end I know we are our own worst critic.

I was pushed to my limits but I learned to make new boundaries. I discovered what a give and take kind of year looks like. I know the things I want to improve on in the coming days and I’am grateful for the growth I obtained in the past 365 days.

I said all year long, that this, “ was one of the worst years of my life”, but as I sit back and reflect on what was, I cant help but smile. I endured alot of bullshit… and somehow, someway I was able to find the good among all the chaos and all the loss. The human spirit is an amazing thing. I cant wait to show you more of mine in the coming year

Behind the Scenes with Singer/ Songwriter Sarah Silva

Judging by Sarah Silva’s Instagram account the young singer/songwriter has the sweetest personality and so naturally I wanted to go the complete opposite direction for the styling of this shoot. After all the photos are going into a Fall editorial slated to be released just before Halloween so why not bring a new version of Sarah to life? I came up with an edgy 1920s Victorian doll styled shoot with my all star team Juel Bergholm on Makeup, Rolando Aqui on Hair Styling and his lovely wife Amia Aqui on wardrobe.

GETTING READY

Sarah Silva and her folks met up with my team and I at the cutest little black box theater in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles called the Skiptown Playhouse https://www.skiptownplayhouse.com/ for our four hour long photo shoot. The team got started prepping right away while I started setting up lights!

Behind the Scenes with Actor and Singer Kevin Quinn

I met up with Kevin Quinn on his last day in Los Angeles, before the talented actor, singer and dancer was off to Nashville to start the filming of a musical film featuring costar Bailee Madison. We met at a very cool rustic garage in downtown Los Angeles where we spent three hours creating an exclusive photo series for the cover of Saturne Magazine’s Fall 2019 Edition.

Its been almost a year to the date since I last worked with Lilia Buckingham and the young star has accomplished more in those 12 months than most. From staring in multiple series including Bratz TV ‘Dirt’, ‘Total Eclipse’ and ‘Crown Lake’ to recording music, directing videos, and spending time with her gaggle of star studded friends the bubbly teen has yet to slow down.

Lilia was all smiles when she arrived on set for our four hour photo shoot for the cover Saturne Magazines fall edition at the beautiful Zevarra Lofts in downtown Los Angeles. With my gal team Hali McGowan and Denise Perez on glam doing their thing to prepare Lilia, clothing designer Barbara Biosah of @atelier_dumebi and I went through her beautiful original pieces to decide which outfits we wanted to work with for the day

When the outfits were selected and the glam squad was done, Lilia and I were ready to create some amazing art and that we did! Check out the behind the scenes images below and makes sure to check out Lilias series when its released later this year!
